Fernando Alvares

Fernando P. Alvares, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, graduated from the University of Saint Thomas cum laude in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts, and graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 2005. Mr. Alvares imigrated to the U.S. in 1998 from Brazil. He personally knows the difficulties and hardships that an Immigrant faces when trying to legalize his or her status in the U.S. because he went through the process of obtaining his Naturalization in the U.S. in 2000. Having faced the difficulties experienced himself, he can relate to Immigrants and their desire to become lawful citizens. This is one of the many reasons he decided to become an Immigration Attorney. Mr. Alvares fluently speaks Portuguese and Spanish and served as a Bilingual Teacher for the Houston Area.

Mr. Alvares practices one of the most important areas of Immigration, Deportation and Removal Hearings in the Houston, Texas Immigration Court where he is able to fight for his clients to stay in the United States legally by obtaining their residency.

Mr. Alvares has participated in many immigration debates in the Houston area, including speaking before the Subcommittee on Immigration Border Security and Claims in 2007. Mr. Alvares has also traveled many times to Washington, D.C. to speak before Texas Representatives regarding immigration laws and comprehensive immigration reform.

Mr. Alvares’ dedication to his clients and his desire to help them legally stay in the U.S. is his passion and the core of his legal practice.
